Homework/Family Learning

Many parents ask us how they can best help to support their child’s work at school. Being involved on a regular basis with your child’s homework is one way in which you can help. You can also help by listening to reading, asking questions, checking/testing spelling and going over multiplication tables.

Most classes offer homework to pupils on four nights each week – from Monday to Thursday. The weekend is left for wider interests and any tasks which the children may wish to follow up or pursue themselves. Of course children work at different speeds and homework will take longer for some children than for others. As a general guide children will require around 10 minutes at the infant stages to around 30 minutes at the P7. Homework tasks will vary according to a child’s ability ensuring that the breadth of curriculum is accessible to all. If there is a repeated problem please do not hesitate to get in touch with the school. Similarly, we will contact you if we feel there are ways in which you could help your child. More information about homework will be provided by class teachers.
